This past week was a strong one on court, with Sam (UTR ~13) and Max (UTR ~9.6) training together daily. The focus wasn’t volume for volume’s sake—it was patterns, decision-making, and physical readiness at a higher tempo.
On-Court Focus
Most of our court time centered around high-percentage patterns that translate directly to match play:
Heavy cross-court exchanges to establish control
Down-the-line changes at the right moment, not forced
Transition work emphasizing volleys and approach shots
Reading pace and spin differences between levels

As the week progressed, it was clear that Max grew more comfortable handling Sam’s ball. Sam brings real pace, weight, and consistency, and Max’s ability to stay engaged in extended rallies improved day by day. That’s an important marker—being able to stay present against a higher-level player without rushing or breaking down.
Serve Work

We also spent time tightening up Sam’s serve, focusing on:
cleaner rhythm
better balance through the motion
improved placement rather than max effort
Small adjustments, but meaningful ones—especially at that level.
Physical Training & Movement
Off the court, the emphasis was on functional strength and movement:
Pushing and pulling strength to support stroke stability
Agility ladder work tied directly to tennis footwork
Racket-in-hand movement patterns (not generic drills)

Max continues to show how much of an asset his physical base is. For an 18-year-old, he’s strong, durable, and coachable in the gym, which translates directly to confidence on the court—especially when absorbing pace.
Big Picture

This was a productive week because it stayed realistic and process-driven. No shortcuts. No flash. Just consistent exposure to higher tempo, better patterns, and disciplined movement.
That’s how players close gaps.
We’ll keep building.
